For the better part of a year now, my focus has not been very robotics-centric; at least in the sense of being focused on things with wheels, legs, tracks, etc. If you've heard my lectures or read this blog, you know that I believe there are lots of systems out there that meet all the criteria of being in the same problem-space as 'robots' without involving anything you would readily recognize as a robot. 'Real' robots are just a special case of a more general problem space that yields to the same approaches and tools (including msrs).
For most of this past year, I have been working with researchers at Microsoft Research, Ltd in Cambridge, UK on Computational Science projects in Ecology and Biology. It's exciting work in that there are so many fascinating and important projects going on in our one small group - the European Science Initiative.
Today's post is simply to let you know that the extended hiatus on this blog will continue, and to direct you to my new main blogging home : http://blogs.msdn.com/martinca
There's more news over there, and a pointer to some recently published results of our work in MSRC. That's also where you will see MSRS-related articles (along with other new articles in Computational Science, analysis, visualization, sensing, general programming tips and patterns, and perhaps even the occasional robotics-related article) posted from now on.
I won't de-commission this blog just yet, but since I don't think it will be practical for me to maintain multiple blogs (it's hard enough to keep one updated), so I probably will close this down eventually and just blog from MSDN.
See you over on MSDN!
